The former Walsall and Mansfield Town defender Matt Preston joined the Harriers on loan from Solihull Moors in January 2022. He was signed by the Moors in July 2021 following his release from Barnet but after playing seven games for them at the start of the season he fell out of favour there and didn’t feature again after September. Matt has also spent time with Swindon Town following his release from Walsall in May 2017. On 19th February Matt received a possible career ending injury against Alfreton Town when his ankle was badly broken. The game was abandoned due to the horrific injury. It took Matt a year to return to the game and when he did he was on loan at Brackley Town. Not to worry though because he soon came back to where he belongs.
