Jan Molby was born in Kolding, Denmark on the 4th of July 1963. His footballing career started at the age of five at Kolding and at the age of eighteen he signed for the Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam for £100,000. Playing alongside the legendary Johan Cruyff he won the Dutch League and Cup double.

In 1984 he signed for Liverpool for £225,000 and collected three Championship medals; three runner up medals; three FA Cup winners and one runners up medal; Also European Cup and League Cup runners up medals.

In 1996 Jan joined Swansea City as player/manager where they just missed out on promotion to Div 2, he left five months later after boardroom changes, much to the disappointment of Swanseas fans.

After nineteen months working in the media he joined the Harriers in May 1999 and after a shaky start he took the Harriers to the Conference Championship in fine style. Sadly, after an acrimonious decision he handed in his resignation at Easter 2002 amid rumours that he was about to join Hull City.

The rumours were proved true when he ended up there a month later. It wasn’t a happy time for him at Hull though and after struggling to win the fickle City fans over to his style of management he bought his Hull City side to Aggborough for a League game in October 2002. To jeers and catcalls his new team lost 1-0 and a few days later Jan found himself on the dole.

While Jan was out of work he kept his finger on the pulse doing television work for Danish television and also helping out with training at Nuneaton Borough until the call came to rejoin the Harriers as manager for the second time. That was on Sunday 19th October 2003 following the sacking of Ian Britton.

Although Jans second term in charge was at first promising by the start of the 2004-05 season things were going badly wrong and with the team rooted at the bottom of the League, only one goal scored away from home, a lengthening injury list and no money to spend Jan left again.

Following that he announced that he would no longer be involved with football at that level but would, instead, be furthering his media career.
