Gavin Cowan arrived at Aggborough on the eve of the 2006-07 season on loan from near neighbours Shrewsbury Town. The tall un-compromising defender has a wealth of experience in Non-League football having had spells at Braintree Town, Canvey Island and Nuneaton Borough before joining up with Shrewsbury. He was bought in for an initial one month period with a view to a longer spell if he did ok but he never did. His time here was probably ruined in his first game for us, the opening game of the season against newly promoted St Albans. He had a shocker of a game and he never improved after that and returned to Shrewsbury a month later but to be honest his game was naturally strewn with basic defending errors and he was never going to stay here. He left Shrewsbury soon after and joined Grays Athletic on a two year contract. Since then he returned back to the Midlands to play for and then later become the manager of AFC Telford Utd. |
