Andy Thorn was the manager that had been bought in to replace Steve Burr in the affections of the Harriers fans hearts. Following the dismissal of the legendary Burr in January 2014 Thorn was appointed the following day as the manager that would take the club back into the football league (not my words). Following a high level career at pre franchise Wimbledon and then Newcastle Utd, Hearts and Tranmere he gave up the playing side of the game through injury and turned his hand to scouting. It was while scouting at Coventry that he became the man in overall charge for just over one season before his own eventual dismissal in August 2012. He had been out of work since then filling in the time doing scouting jobs for the England manager Roy Hodgson until finally joining up with us. After just eight games with the Harriers, and alienating the fans with his negative style of play, Thorn was sacked by the club on March 5th 2014. |
