Match preview Vs Boston UtdDate: 01-09-18Venue: York StreetKick off: 15:00hrs |
Dan Bradley will be back for the Harriers tomorrow just in time for the trek over to Boston Utd. Now that he’s served the last of his three match ban he’ll be hoping to get straight back into reckoning for the starting eleven but he may have to wait awhile due to the outstanding form of Ed Williams.
Ed has replaced Bradley for the last three games and on Saturday was given the man of the match award in recognition. If Bradley does come straight in then the fans would prefer to see Billy Daniels make way for him but due to the links between Neil McFarlane and Daniels (both ex Coventry City) that may not happen. We could be without Joe Ironside though, after he picked up a knock in the Bank Holiday win against Stockport County, so there might be a bit of a re-shuffle up front anyway.
We’ll need to be at our best if we hope to carry on with our unbeaten run at Boston with them starting the season so much better than in previous seasons even though they’ve lost three games but having also won three. Enough to get them three places better off than us in the table although we do have a game in hand.
Boston have just strengthened their side with the signing of two former Harriers. On of those is Cieron Keane who didn’t have a good time with us and left for Alfreton Town at around this time last season. He signed for Boston last weekend as did Ben Davies. Davies started his career with us during the Jan Molby years but never featured much and was released after fifteen games to join Chester City where he went on to have a glittering career.
He played a hundred and seventy games for City before leaving to play for Shrewsbury Town where he also made over a century of appearances. He then hit the peak of his career when he left the Shrews for Championship side Derby County in 2011 and then three seasons later he left them for Sheffield Utd. His last team was Grimsby Town for the last two seasons but he was released in May after making sixty three appearances for them.
United will be without Ashley Jackson tomorrow as he serves the final match of a three match suspension.
This is going to be a big ask for the Harriers and could be our hardest test so far. On paper we probably have the better players but our defence is still a little suspect so sort that out and we could return from there with the points.
