30-08-17 - Liam Daly does an about turn again

In something of a shock move this evening the Kidderminster Harriers central defender Liam Daly returned to his former club Solihull Moors after only joining us a few weeks ago.

Usually on the eve of a transfer deadline you expect to see new players coming in and ever since the season began the fans have been calling for an established central defender to play alongside Daly. Instead we have been told tonight that his contract, believed to have been very lucrative, had been cancelled by mutual consent and he has now returned to the club that he had agreed to re-sign for back at the end of June but then reneged on that to join the Harriers.

In his short time with us it was observed that he was no where near as good as Keith Lowe, the defender he replaced, and didn’t give us the same kind of quality options that he did. Keiths’ departure from the Harriers was also very similar to the way that Daly left Solihull when he was told that he could leave just a few weeks after signing a new contract with us.

Of course we wish Liam all the best back at his old club and we may never know the real reason for his about turn. Was he on too much money? Couldn’t he cope with full time football? or was it that he missed his old mates so much?

We now need to get another central defender in asap and it can’t stop there because we actually need to bring two in if we hope to put a correctly balanced team out for the home game against Boston Utd this coming Saturday.
