29-08-24. Scunthorpe Utd Vs Kidderminster Harriers. Match preview

The Harriers face their biggest test of the season so far when they take on table toppers Scunthorpe Utd at Glanford Park tomorrow evening. We last came up against The Iron way, way back in February 2005, the year we fell out of the Football League.

Since then we’ve both fell from grace into the non league scene with Scunthorpe coming down to the National League in 2022 and then falling straight through into the North a season later. Amazingly our paths crossed in passing as we got promoted to the National League the same year. Now we’re back and ready to renew our acquaintances.

We have the worry of possibly being without both of our main strikers for the game. Amari Morgan-Smith is still waiting on the clearance of his concussion break while Ben Beresford could be out for a while with a hamstring injury after he went down in pain on Monday in the game against Oxford City that had seen him score the opening goal a few minutes earlier. Hopefully they’ll both be ok’d to play.

We didn’t seem to have anymore injuries following the Monday game so we should be alright in that respect.

Our opponents tomorrow, Scunthorpe, have led the table since the start of the season but with only five games gone so far it’s early days. They won their first three games against Brackley Town, Marine FC and Needham Market but then dropped two home points to Chorley FC before getting back to winning ways at South Shields on Monday.
