Back for a second time with the Reds

George Waring returned to the Harriers on loan for a second stint with the club earlier today. George was with us at the end of last season on loan from Tranmere Rovers and knocked in four goals in a fifteen game run at Aggborough.

This season he hasn’t featured at all and was originally on their released list at the end of last season but looks to have been given a second chance. He still hasn’t made it onto the official squad page on their official website though.

When he was last with us he played alongside Joe Ironside following a change to the thinking of our former managers, John Eustace, when he realised that a lone striker up front was never going to win us the title or the play-offs. Georges goals helped a little but we still didn’t manage promotion.

Now, ironically, his team mate back then is now on his way out from the club at loan on York City. Questions, naturally, are being asked as to why we have let a paceless target man go out on loan only to bring a paceless target man in on loan in his place.

Hopefully George will strike up a decent partnership with his new strike partner Ashley Chambers and the first chance to see that will come at Spennymoor Town this coming Saturday. Now we need the new defender that we were actually expecting to come in.
