The Harriers fell to another pre-season friendly defeat when they went down 3-2 at Stratford Town. Out of the five played so far we have won just the once at Evesham Utd.

The hosts took an early lead through Will Grocott when he rifled the ball home from outside the area beyond the reach of the trialist keeper after nine minutes. Both keepers this evening were trialists so giving the Harriers Online sponsored Luke Simpson the evening off.

The Harriers were slow to respond as they took their time to get into gear with both Ashley Hemmings and Amari Morgan-Smith trying their luck with, sadly, weak efforts. The Reds went into the break on the losing end.

After the break we eventually we drew level in the fifty fifth minute as Hemmings finally found his touch to head the ball home after picking up on a head on from Keith Lowe. He almost grabbed a second minutes later when he hit the foot of the post with a shot.

We took the lead in the seventy first minute when substitute Sammy Austin, only on a few minutes earlier, drove the ball powerfully beyond the reach of the Town keeper. Sadly the lead didn’t last long as a quick fire double for the hosts gave them the ‘points’. A penalty award ten minutes from time was converted by Mitchell Glover and then a ex Harrier, Bailey Fuller, finished the night off five minutes later when he scored from close range.

We’re at Halesowen Town on Saturday so let’s hope for better. I know these are only friendlies but wins breed confidence but at the moment we aren’t getting any.
