It’s the stuff that nightmares are made of. The Harriers only go and get drawn against Stourbridge FC again in a cup draw.
In the delayed draw at lunchtime today we were one of the first let out of the bag and we were picked to play a team that have become a real bogey side of ours in recent years. We were drawn against Stourbridge in the FA Cup in October 2015 and suffered a shocking 3-0 setback at the War Memorial Ground. A few weeks later we met up again in the FA Trophy and we lost again. At least we scored that time with a goal from Gurjit Singh in the 2-1 defeat.
Now we have to put those wrongs right.
On Saturday, while we were putting five past Atherstone Town, Stourbridge were at home to Leamington FC in their game. With the score at 2-2 going into added time a last gasp effort from Kaiman Anderson broke the Brakes hearts to send them tumbling out. In the previous round at Highgate Utd the same player scored the winning goal there in their 2-1 win.
This time we’re a much better side than we were under John Eustace and must be the favourites going into the game. That doesn’t mean a thing on the day though and the Glassboys will also be going into the game with confidence.
We’ll find out on October 6th. Please don’t let it be another game from hell.
