National North – Play off eliminator Match report Vs Boston UtdVenue: AggboroughDate: 12-05-22Att: 3921 (away fans: 408) Harriers fail at the play off stage again Report: Phil Lench The Harriers history in the play-offs reared it’s head once again when we fell at the first hurdle once more. Following a brilliant season it ended up as we all feared that the legs, stamina and luck would eventually run out on us. Fair play to Boston Utd though because they deserved the win and will now travel to AFC Fylde on Sunday afternoon for the semi final game. At least we’ve been saved the ‘pleasure’ of going to that awful place. Boston came with a plan, and a midfield, while we
Match report Vs Darlington FC Venue: Aggborough Date: 07-05-22 Att: 2436 (away fans: 130) Harriers get through the final league game Report: Phil Lench The Harriers bought the regular season to a close with this half paced home win against Darlington FC this afternoon. It was never going to be a full blooded game with neither side having anything lying on the result. We already knew that we’d be finishing in fourth place while Darlington could have moved from their thirteenth placing up to eleventh place, depending on other results, but there’s no extra reward for doing so. At least today the Harriers manager, Russ Penn, approached this game with less caution then he did at Leamington FC last Monday.
Match report Vs Leamington FC Venue: New Windmill Ground Date: 02-05-22 Att: 1176 (away fans: 500) One memorable moment and that was it Report: Phil Lench This is going to be a short match report and not because I haven’t much time or that I can’t be arsed. No, it’s because apart from one incident there is very little to write about. Let’s get that one incident done with first. Callum Gittings? Now there’s a name from our past and one that is always remembered with fondness. From out of nothing, but a poor clearance from defence, he volleyed the ball beyond the grasp of Luke Simpson in the fifth minute of the game. It was a goal worthy of
Match report Vs Guiseley AFC Venue: Aggborough Date: 30-04-22 Att: 2077 (away fans: 51) Harriers make fourth place safe Report: Phil Lench The Harriers took a big step in catching third placed AFC Fylde when they took all three points, and scored all three goals, against relegation threatened Guiseley AFC at Aggborough today. A brace from Ashley Hemmings and a maiden goal for Geraldo Bajrami did the damage to give the Reds an emphatic win but overall it was poor game for the onlooker. The result took us two points closer to third place after Fylde could only manage a draw but, with only two games left, it may be too much to ask of us to overtake them. Guiseley
Match report Vs Blyth Spartans Venue: Croft Park Date: 23-04-22 Att: 671 (away fans: 50) Simpson red card as Harriers fail to win again Report: Phil Lench The Harriers keeper, Luke Simpson, was sent off near to the end of this disappointing draw at Blyth Spartans today when he was deemed to have handled the ball outside his area. If it was because he stopped a goalscoring opportunity or not is open to conjecture because if that was the case then a red card is correct but if it wasn’t then it should only have been a yellow card. We await the video evidence and possibly a chance to appeal. As it was it was to make no difference to
Match report Vs Kettering Town Venue: Aggborough Date: 18-04-22 Att: 2409 (away fans: 188) Harriers fail to break down a packed defence again Report: Harriershane The Harriers were glad to welcome Sam Austin and Geraldo Bajrami back off the treatment table, but were less glad to leave Aggborough with only a point after a goalless draw which the visiting Poppies had set out to obtain at 3pm in this Easter Monday clash. Amari Morgan-Smith missed out as a precaution, with a slight tight groin, meaning that Ethan Freemantle was handed a start against an imposing Kettering Town backline. The first few minutes set the tone for the remainder of the half, and arguably the game, as the Harriers retained possession
Match report Vs Chester FC Venue: Deva Stadium Date: 15-04-22 Att: 2109 (away fans: 331) Harriers fight back for the Chester draw(ers) Report: Phil Lench The Harriers came back from a two goal deficit at Chester FC today after looking dead and buried following two quickfire goals for the hosts. The scoreless first half was nothing to write home about but the second period came to life for us after a goalkeeping error allowed Amari Morgan-Smith in to score followed soon after by the equaliser when Omari Sterling-James slotted home. With the Reds going in search of a winner at the end that was all forgotten when Cliff Moyo went down, with no one near him, in a repeat of
Match report Vs Southport Venue: Aggborough Date: 09-04-22 Att: 1955 (away fans: 78) The Harriers hit the ‘Port’ for six Report: Harriershane All of the conversation coming into this game was about two teams in poor form and the need to stand up to another physical side after Tuesday night’s defeat at home to Alfreton Town. Four changes were made to the Harriers line-up from that night with Russ Penn changing to a 4-4-2 formation, meaning Matty Stenson got his maiden start in a Harriers shirt. Cliff Moyo also made a welcome return to the substitutes bench. The first chance actually went to the visitors with Niall Watson sending a low shot goalwards that was comfortable for Luke Simpson. The
