National North – Play off eliminator Match preview Vs Boston UtdDate: 12-05-22Venue: AggboroughKick off: 19:45hrs Preview: Phil Lench The Harriers enter the start of the final phase of this long season tomorrow evening when we take our first step in the play off finals for the 2021/22 season. Our reward for finishing fourth is that we get to play our first game at home so this eliminator game is against seventh placed Boston Utd and has to be won on the day if we hope, or Boston, to be playing at AFC Fylde on Sunday afternoon. Tonight York City will be entertaining Chorley FC in the first of the eliminators and the winner of that game will then be away
Match preview Vs Darlington FC Venue: Aggborough Date: 07-05-22 Kick off: 15:00hrs Preview: Phil Lench It’s the final day of the normal league season tomorrow and the Harriers fans flocking to Aggborough will be hoping for a better performance from the Reds that we saw at Leamington FC on Monday. That shambles was without doubt one of the worst displays ever inflicted on us and one that we hope that we never see again. I can forgive going down early doors to one of the goals of the season but to then show no fight to try and get back into the game was un-forgivable and once we went a second goal down…. It was an experiment that went wrong
Match preview Vs Leamington FC Venue: New Windmill Ground Date: 02-05-22 Kick off: 15:00hrs Preview: Phil Lench For our last away game of the season proper we make the short and easy trip over to Leamingtons New Windmill Ground in the knowledge that our fourth place spot in the table is now confirmed following Saturdays 3-0 home win against a doomed Guiseley AFC. A brace from Ashley Hemmings and a first ever goal for Geraldo Bajrami was enough to see off the Lions while at the same time tomorrows hosts, Leamington FC, were winning 2-1 at Curzon Ashton in something of a surprise result. That was only their second away win of the season with the other one coming at
Match preview Vs Guiseley AFC Venue: Aggborough Date: 30-04-22 Kick off: 15:00hrs Preview: Phil Lench The Harriers keeper, Luke Simpson, will be missing from this home game against the basement club Guiseley AFC tomorrow due to the red card that he collected at Blyth Spartans last Saturday. After allegedly stepping over the line, carrying the ball, he was deemed to have stopped a Blyth player from scoring although looking at the video that decision seemed to be a bit iffy and even more so with the white lines not being visible. The club have yet to say whether the ban is for just the one game or three although the latter seems a little unlikely. As for who will replace
Match preview Vs Blyth Spartans Venue: Croft Park Date: 23-04-22 Kick off: 15:00hrs Preview: Phil Lench The Harriers make their longest trip of the season tomorrow when they travel up to Blyth Spartans for the penultimate away day of the season proper. We could face equally long trips if we draw either Gateshead or AFC Fylde at some stage of the play-offs but that is yet to come. For now we go against a side that were propping the table up a few weeks ago but have now put some positive results together to climb up to the comparative safety of third from bottom. Now four points ahead of bottom side Guiseley AFC they’ll be looking for a further three
Match preview Vs Kettering Town Venue: Aggborough Date: 18-04-22 Kick off: 15:00hrs Preview: Phil Lench We hope that you all enjoyed your Easter eggs, and also that comeback from 2-0 down at Chester FC on Good Friday, but now we have another big game at Aggborough tomorrow when we face a difficult opponent in Kettering Town. Kettering have climbed the table a bit since we beat them at their place back in January and they now sit just outside the play-off places in eighth place having been as low as sixteenth at one stage. On Friday they beat Gloucester City 1-0 at Latimer Park. In our game in January our only goal was scored by Amari Morgan-Smith and it was
Match preview Vs Chester FC Venue: Deva Stadium Date: 15-04-22 Kick off: 15:00hrs Preview: Phil Lench You can always tell when the season is drawing to its conclusion when you suddenly realise that Easter is upon you and the Harriers have two games within a short space of time. Sometimes the sun comes out too and that makes it seem all the more real that the end is within sight. Tomorrow we’ll all be hoping to enjoy the Spring sunshine in Chester and we may also, hopefully, be enjoying three points too. On Monday we can add to those points with another three at home to Kettering Town but more on that after this game at Chester FC. We had
Match preview Vs Southport Venue: Aggborough Date: 09-04-22 Kick off: 15:00hrs Preview: Phil Lench The return to form that we saw in the 5-0 win against Curzon Ashton appeared to be something of a false dawn. There was us thinking that after a poor run of results we’d need just one win to set us back on our way again. A lacklustre draw at Bradford (PA) followed by Tuesday evenings dire home defeat against an agricultural Alfreton Town saw that sunny dawn soon cloud over. Let’s face it we’re just not as good as we thought we were. The poor run started with the Farsley Celtic game back at the end of February and in the nine games since then
