Hoping for minutes between the sticks
It was a short but, sadly, not so sweet stay in the National League when our time came to an end at home to Eastleigh FC last Saturday. In another must win game we failed miserably to score again and that has to be our biggest downfall in our time here. It took another wonder goal from Paul McCallum to show our poor strikers how it should be done.
Tomorrow we end the season away at second placed Barnet FC in a nothing game for us but an important one for the hosts who need just one point to confirm their final position. To end with a win will be a bonus for them.
In yesterdays preview of the game Phil Brown said that he may be giving some of the younger squad members their chance. Josh Bishop, Kai Lissimore, Kobe Hall and Samson Hewett have all been recalled from their loan spells and at least two of them will be on the bench. The way he was talking it looks odds on that Bishop will come on for Christian Dibble late on in the game.
We now have three out injured with Jack Lambert now missing with a leg injury while Alex Penny has a hamstring injury picked up in the FC Halifax Town game from two weeks ago. Shane Byrne is the third and has been out for some time now with his leg injury.
Hopefully we’ll end our time here on a high with a win but that’s unlikely. At least we should be taking a good following down to North London and enjoying a decent day out.
