18-12-17 - Harriers face Stockport next in the Trophy

After that well deserved win over York City in the 1st round of the FA Trophy on Saturday the Harriers will now be facing another Conference North side after drawing Stockport County a few minutes ago on Talk Sport 2 radio.

Two goals in a minute from James Pearson and Manny Sonupè saw us make our way into the next round although a late rally from City made the Harriers fans sweat a little. We held out though, despite a goal for City from former Harriers Amari Morgan-Smith, to earn the right to play Stockport.

They got through at the first time of asking too when they beat Lancaster City 3-1 at the Giant Axe with their goals coming from Jason Oswell, Gary Stopforth and Bohan Dixon.

We’ve already beaten County this season, albeit on their own patch, when Joe Ironside bagged a brace in a 2-1 win that gave us our fourth consecutive win against the former league club since we sentenced them to relegation to this lowly place in 2013.

Hopefully we can keep that run going a little longer with a Trophy win too but if we don’t then we’ll have a day off just two weeks later on the 3rd of February because we would have been playing them in a league game that day. If we do win through then it’ll be Stockport having a day off instead.

The game will be played on Saturday 13th January 2018 and it will mean that our home game against FC Utd of Manchester will have to be played at a later date.
