Gone to the Bucks Head once more

After refusing to sign a new contract, or not actually being offered one, James McQuilkin has left the Harriers today to re-join AFC Telford Utd. He originally played for the team up the road just a few months before joining us for a second time in November 2015.

During his more recent time with us he became a crucial member of the team with his excellent passing skills and the mastery of the free kick situation. His 118 games for us yielded a career best of 17 goals with most of those coming from the dead ball situation. As mentioned this was his second time with us after he first joined us back in January 2012 on loan from Hereford Utd. He didn’t really settle in at Aggborough then but glimpses  of his capabilities could be seen and it was those that attracted Walsall to sign him from the Bulls a few months later.

He first joined Telford on a free transfer in August 2015 but it didn’t work out for him at the Bucks Head and after a month he left to join Hednesford Town but with the same result. Just one game at each of those clubs was all he played before joining us a month later.

Last season wasn’t the best with us for James and at times he struggled to get his usual game together. Whether it was age creeping up on him, disenchantment with the tactics we were using or a different quality of team mate compared to the previous, his best, season we’ll never know but he goes to Telford with our best wishes and we’ll look forward to seeing him back at Aggborough very soon.
