Match preview Vs AltrinchamVenue: AggboroughDate: 14-09-19Kick off: 15:00hrs |
It’s been another bad week at Aggborough once again with the revelation that some Academy coaches weren’t paid in full last month and ‘more or less’ withdrew their labour until the full amount had been paid. When asked they said that it wasn’t the first time it had happened but later on came the news from our temporary board of one that they had been paid and so all was well with the world once more.
To date nothing official regarding the situation has been released by the club so the fans remain in the dark for another week or so.
We now have another home game to look forward to when we’d all rather being playing away. Our record at home is just as bad as the goings on behind the scenes without a single win at Aggborough so far. In fact we’ve only gained a single point at home thanks to the opening day draw against Leamington FC.
Last Saturday we scraped a 1-1 draw at an also ‘bad at home’ club when we could only manage a draw with Blyth Spartans to give them their first home point. On Tuesday Blyth got thrashed 5-0 by fellow stragglers Spennymoor Town so that just about sums up our visit there.
We did have the problem of injuries before and during the game when Cameron Gregory fell badly during the warm up and then twenty minutes in Jamie Sharman got injured and had to go off.
Cameron, who was replaced by Tom Palmer (thank God we had a keeper on the bench), will miss the next four weeks minimum while Sharman, two weeks into a months loan, has returned to Chesterfield for treatment and will also be out for a month meaning we may not see him again.
At least we have Rhys Williams back from international duties to take his place. Also back from playing for his country is Milan Butterfield.
On the injury front for Altrincham they’ll have defender Tom Hannigan back after completing a three match suspension while midfielder Simon Richman misses out following his red card against Southport. Yusifu Ceesay will be out with a hamstring problem while defender Conor Hampson will be facing a fitness test before the game.
Altrincham are also having a poor season going on what was expected by them. Last season the finished above us in fifth place and participated in the play-offs but this season they sit in fourteenth place, two above us, but surely they’ll have improved on that by the end of the season.
Whereas us? where will we end up?
