12-09-22. Match preview Vs AFC Fylde

Preview: Phil Lench

This game at home to AFC Fylde tomorrow evening comes during a week of such historic proportions that it seems to pale a little in comparison. The game at Scarborough Athletic was called off on Saturday, as were all other football matches, following the passing of our Queen but tomorrow evenings games have been allowed to go ahead, as does our FA Cup game at home to Tamworth next Saturday.

As expected, sadly, Fylde have been strong again this season and, along with us, are amongst the frontrunners at third place in the league compared to our fifth. So far this season they have lost twice with their first defeat coming away in the second game of the season at Banbury Utd with a 3-1 scoreline. The next reverse was at home to Scarborough in mid-August when they went down 2-0. Since then narrow 1-0 wins against Chester FC and Southport and a 3-1 victory at home to AFC Telford Utd have seen them keep their place high up in the table.

Fylde have recently welcomed back Danny Rowe to their squad with him coming in on a loan from Chesterfield until January 1st next year. His previous spell with the Coasters was very fruitful and helped them to achieve promotion into the National Premier in 2020 but left them in the New Year for Oldham Athletic and then Bradford City.

Any injuries that Fylde have will have to remain under lock and key until kick off.

We should be at full strength apart from Alex Penny and Tom Owen-Evans although it’s hoped that the latter will be fit enough to make the bench. We’ll be looking for another positive result against a club above us after beating Spennymoor Town 4-0 two weeks ago. Four goals were put past them in one of the rare occasions that we have beaten a team at our own level in the table after failing miserably last season.

Now is the time to get our first ever win against AFC Fylde.
