11-09-17 - Preview - Tamworth Vs Harriers

After that win at Southport (something of a shock win to be honest) the Harriers travel a little closer to home when we pop up the M42 car park to play sixth placed Tamworth.

That 3-0 win on the Lancashire coast came courtesy of Will Longbottom and Andre Brown with Brown grabbing a brace. It was a much better performance than in recent weeks and that was without four crucial first team players. Joe Ironside, James McQuilkin, Dan Bradley and Ryan Croasdale were all missing for various reasons but expect three of those four to be back in contention at the Lamb. We could also add Liam Truslove into the squad that travels too because he must be near fitness by now.

Tamworth beat Spennymoor Town on Saturday by a 3-1 scoreline with the former Harriers midfielder Darryl Knights grabbing a brace to win the game. They have now won four home games in a row and will be looking to make that five tomorrow evening. Boston Utd, Curzon Ashton and Stockport were the former victims with only Bradford PA getting any points on the opening day of the season.

In addition to Knights Tamworth also have former Harriers Luke Jones, Aman Verma and Reece Styche turning out for them and it’s sure to be Styche that will get the ‘biggest’ welcome from the Reds fans.

They have an injury doubt with Matthias Curley having been taken to hospital for stitches to a head injury during the Spennymoor game. He’ll be checked for fitness as will Luke Jones and Louis Ezewele (the brother of former Harrier Josh Ezewele who is now at AFC Fylde) who are both returning from injury.

Hopefully we’ll take this result at Southport with us to Tamworth and try to repeat our win there last season when we came from 2-0 down to secure a 4-3 win with a couple of goals on his debut for Joe Ironside and additional goals from Tyrone Williams and Keith Lowe. Don’t forget the two games at Aggborough earlier in the season too when we knocked ten goals past them.

Oh for results like that again.
