06-08-18 – Preview – Harriers Vs AFC Telford Utd

The Harriers open their home season tomorrow evening with a welcome visit of local rivals AFC Telford Utd to Aggborough. In what promises to be another warm evening we’ll be taking on a rejuvenated team that comprises of many former Harriers players that now play for the Lillywhites.

At the end of last season Andre Brown and James McQuilkin signed for them on the expiry of their contracts with us while also coming in was Darryl Knights from relegated Tamworth and Adam Dawson from Southport. Amari Morgan-Smith is the final Red and he joined them from York City in February on an eighteen month contract.

It was AMS that scored their only goal in the 1-0 win against Southport in the opening day.

That day we came from from 2-1 down at Alfreton Town to take a 3-2 lead but then gave away a penalty in the end to record a 3-3 draw that in reflection was a good result to take from North Street. Our goals came from Dan Bradley, Kane Richards and Joe Ironside so we know we have goals in us. Defensively we looked a little short on height and hopefully that will be remedied if it becomes too much of a problem.

We have no known injuries to report although Liam Truslove and Ed Wagner weren’t in the squad on Saturday so they may be unavailable tomorrow too. The only known absentee for Telford will be Dominic Smith who is serving a three match ban carried over from last season when he was sent off at Spennymoor Town.
