04-09-17 - Preview - Harriers Vs Curzon Ashton

The Harriers have a second attempt of a win at Aggborough tomorrow evening when they take on Curzon Ashton. Again, at home on Saturday, we struggled to perform against Boston Utd after having a very good first half but yet another diabolical second half.

Another opportunist goal by Manny Sonupè looked to be setting us on our way with some wonderful football being played but then a poor backpass from Joel Taylor inadvertently led to a penalty awarded to Boston that was thankfully saved by Brandon Hall. After than we lost all confidence and that continued into the second half where we allowed Boston to dominate for long periods. It was only at the end that we rallied and tried to snatch the win but the visitors held firm.

Again the tactics employed by the management were criticised by the supporters for being negative at home with poor old Joe Ironside being employed as the lone striker yet again. In the second half he was replaced by Andre Brown who then took on the lone striker role under a cloak on invisibility. We can see that they should be playing together so why can’t the management?

We should be at full strength for the game with Taylor the only one to pick up an injury on Saturday. Following the game he spoke to the press and said his going off was just a precaution and he’ll be fit to play.

On Saturday Curzon held Salford City to a 1-1 draw at home with their goal coming from Max Leonard. They now sit in 18th place in the league now, just one place below Boston, but if we fail to either win or draw tomorrow (in other words lose) then Curzon will climb above us and possibly push us down to fourth from bottom. It doesn’t bear thinking about.

So the verdict is that we must win this game and hopefully do it with the correct formation for playing at home and the correct amount of strikers going out looking for goals. You don’t get any points if you don’t score goals.
