Date: 03-09-24 Match preview Vs Chester FC Venue: Aggborough Kick off: 19:45hrs |
Preview:Phil Lench
Following another defeat on the road at Scunthorpe Utd on Friday evening – our second in a week having lost at Warrington Town six days earlier – we take on Chester FC at Aggborough for a Tuesday evening game.
Our record against Chester is not the best and the last time we met up with them in the 2022-23 season we lost both games, home and away, 2-0. Chester initially didn’t get off to a good start this season but two wins at home in a week against Scarborough Athletic and Peterborough Sports have pushed them up into eighth place in the table and they now sit four places below us due to results on Saturday pushing us down slightly.
It’s still looking unlikely that we’ll get to see Amari Morgan-Smith back from his concussion protocol and that’s dragging on a little too long when there really doesn’t seem to be any real need for it. Ben Beresford will be out for a while with his hamstring injury and we were expecting to see a loan replacement coming in but that looks doubtful too.
Defensively on Friday we looked a little suspect and there could be changes there with possibly Reiss McNally coming in to beef it up a bit. In other areas we seem ok so, no doubt, we’ll go with the same starting line-up as we did at Glanford Park.
Games under the lights at Aggborough are always good. Let’s hope it’s good for three points too.
In other news today was the day that we found out who we’d be facing in our first game in the FA Cup this season. That was answered when we got drawn out at home to Leek Town and the game will be played on September 14th at Aggborough.
We last played them in 1999 in the Nationwide Conference and seven times before that. If you want to know more then take a look here: Leek Town
