1-04-18 - Preview - Harriers Vs Brackley Town

The Harriers take on another tough opponent tomorrow afternoon when third placed Brackley Town come to Aggborough for a game that will hopefully see a large turn out of Harriers fans. Brackley, who are unbeaten at home all season, remained that way when second placed Harrogate Town went there two days ago and came away with a point in a scoreless draw. We went there back in August and lost 2-0 in a very poor display from us. In all three games against Brackley we are yet to gain even a point off them.

Off the bench to score again?

While they were keeping their home form intact, on Friday we were throwing yet more points away at Boston Utd and the way it’s going we may well face being out of the play-offs altogether if we cannot put a stop to these late charity handouts. Every time we concede late goals we are told that the team have learnt from it and that it won’t happen again, but it does.

We’re beginning to learn that someone is being a little untruthful and it will carry on happening until the last game of the season when we’ll be told that next season we will have learnt from our mistakes and we’ll be good to go once more.

At Boston an opening goal for Dan Bradley and one for George Waring, within minutes of coming on, that pulled us back level after Boston had scored twice in-between gave us the hope that we could go on and grab a winning third goal but the sending off of Lee Vaughan seemed to set us back and in the last minute of the game Boston scored. We’ll have Vaughan with us tomorrow but not for the next three games against Blyth Spartans, Stockport County and Tamworth.

On the bench Saturday was Elton N’Gwatala making his return from a short lay off through injury. The only other two missing in recent weeks are James O’Connor and Liam Truslove and it really is about time those two were fit again. Without O’Connor we don’t seem to have much strength defensively and we’re also missing his leadership qualities. Missing on Saturday was Joel Taylor with an ear infection but that should have cleared up by now.

Brackley, as always, don’t give out team news but they have strengthened the team for the run in. Shepherd Murombedzi has arrived from Chester and Jordan Nicholson has come in on loan from Peterborough Utd after spending a few loan spells with Nuneaton Town. Jack Byrne and Danny Lewis are both still with Brackley and should get a good welcome off the Harriers fans tomorrow.

Now we all know that we need to win this game and no doubt the team will be going all out to win it too but please lads remember that the game is played until the final whistle goes and not ten minutes before. Thank you.
