Harriers Squad 2025/26 Transfers/Loans/Rumours

I'm guessing that both are towards the top end of our wage earners.tonythescout wrote: Wed Oct 08, 2025 3:11 pm Bird out for pretty much the whole season, Murray said will be 5 months before we gets back into training.
Penny out again and Murray has had they've had conversations on his long term health
If Penny can be persuaded to retire, maybe insurance money will kick in and we can part ways without too much cost to us.
Small club mentality. Players need to give the supporters something to cheer & back first. And as is a prerequisite. If that then doesn't happen, then they can have a word. It's like they forget people are paying to watch them.tonythescout wrote: Wed Oct 08, 2025 3:32 pm What is it about fans constantly harping on about ex players returning? Didnt look great for Hereford against us on both occasions.
Im 5 mins into Murrays interview on YT and its infuriating.
hangover from last season to blame, its a new team. Players need the supporters to support. Thats what we have been doing. He doesnt seem to be taking responsibility, always something else and 'the process'.
Loosing faith in him big time. Proof will be in the pudding come 5pm Saturday

Yes, players do the need the supporters to support. Which we do. We turn up in good numbers. Given the stale football I don’t think the matchday moaning is too bad really. And online stuff - you can’t control it so step away from it.
Unless my mind is deceiving me, AM was pretty bullish in the summer in that the clear target was promotion. To win the league. He talked about what a big club this was, the style of football expected etc. He seems to be rowing back on a lot of this and saying the expectation and size of the club is a problem for the players. And that it’s a challenge to build a new team. I’d rather he’d have been more realistic in the summer as opposed to coming in and suggesting we’d be contenders for the title. You never know, we might still be, but it’s unlikely.

Thought Mr Murray was calmer and more reflective in this interview.
Asking for fans support too .
Maybe we can turn the corner?
A decent performance something to get excited about against a team in form that knows how to score on Saturday would cheer everyone up fans and players alike.

He essentially said what I wrote later in the interview. Probably would've been wise to listen to the interview first...TWG85 wrote: Wed Oct 08, 2025 4:54 pm Small club mentality. He's trying. It all seems very awkward for him, but he's trying.

Let’s be honest, the squad this season, contrary to what AM keeps spouting, is not great.
I couldn’t help but feel that interview was full of waffle, buck passing and contradiction from what has been said previously.
I suspect the players have lost some confidence in the message too which is why many of the performances are mixed.

No, you are absolutely right. He seems to be redefining what his expectations are.Sheffield Harrier wrote: Wed Oct 08, 2025 5:03 pm Yes, players do the need the supporters to support. Which we do. He compared now to this time last season and says we have more points - the problem for him is that we have eyes. Already by this time last season we had battered a few teams and shown some real flare and promise.
So far this season, apart from a good backs to the wall win at KL we have looked very far from convincing even in the games we have won. We can’t score and look weak in defence.
It’s all very well saying we haven’t had luck, but I’ve also seen us get away with a few defensively.
The players don’t look happy on the pitch. Rumours of new recruits leaving doesn’t help. There is constant tinkering and no settled 11.
At least he’s acknowledged Phil’s advice about not shouting at the players constantly. He needs to lighten up a bit. He’s not quite the manager or person I expected him to be.
We desperately need a turning point on Saturday.

This is about as much humility as anyone could expect to see from a football manager, credit where credit is due (and credit for the direct questions).
2 wins on the bounce and it's yesterday's news....moreover 2 losses and it's another story entirely.
An unexpectedly high pressure situation so early in the season. I wish him luck as we all want the same thing.

23 minutes of waffle. Just another reset and hoping that all will come good.
I still don't know what style or system we're even aiming for.
Some absolute basics are being missed. For example, if you're not going to play Kam Kandola in midfield, then he's one of the best centre backs at the club.
Saturday could be messy.

Trevor Owens must be commended on his questioning, which is always good. But yesterday was great as he clearly has his ear to the ground (comments on micromanaging, do you know your best 11 etc)
It didnt enjoy Murrays answers and am far from being convinced. Rowing back on a lot of stuff said in the summer. Doesnt know best 11. Always someone elses fault or something - pressure, confidence etc etc. Never hi.
I think he is responsible. If he wasnt stressed he wouldnt have had that altercation with the fan Saturday. That will rub on the players. He is forgetting basics and over complicating things.
Mentions fans needing the support of fans. They get it already. Gates averaging 2500, support is good. The atmosphere around the place isnt horrible, and we've seen that before. Look at the season we got relegated from the conference after the fall out of Whild, Thorn, Hockaday etc, to the end of CG's tenure. Current atmosphere is nothing like that.
Only thing I did enjoy or at least agreed with, he said he will stop micro managing and allow players to play with freedom.
Actions speak louder than words.

I like AM. I went to the Curry night and was sold on his ambition, confidence, attention to detail, the data and analytical approach and his honesty.
I was never 100% sold on Phil Brown. Through all the hundreds of hours of interviews he did, he never offered up one ounce of tactical insight, not one shred of detail that would suggest he is a football manager first and media personality second. I liked him, who couldn't, but was never convinced on his managerial ability. He took over a steady ship with a good crew and almost sailed it into the promised land, but didn't, he hit the harbour wall on approach. Ultimately Failed. He would of gone even if we would of won the league. His relationship with Lane and his own mate DH had broken down, he lost his license so was restricted on travel and by his own admission on Talk Sport shut the door on their faces if they ever approached his office. He had to go.
In my view, the majority couldn't see past the charm and character where as i did quite quickly. I get this is my personal view but its shared with the fan base of almost all other clubs that he's been to and many ex-professionals that have worked under him. If you listen to the 'Undr the Cosh Podcast' you'll know what i mean. He would come in, flatter and charm, get found out and move on. The trajectory of his career path also backs this up.
For these reasons, AM will never be good enough for a lot of our fans.
To all the PB fan boys, take a step back. We lost all our better players in the summer. We're 7th. In the play-offs. only lost the two. Had a ton of bad luck with decisions and injuries.
Yes the recruitment was poor and dipping into the south was a mistake, but with a few gone it should give us some flexibility to recruit better.
Come on guys, see it for what it is. Keep the faith and get behind the manager.

I'm sitting on the fence - and it's a bit painful!
