Re: 16-10-21 Bedfont (A)
The prize money is starting to get serious.
This round (4th qualifying round) - £9375 to the winner, £3125 to the loser
1st round proper - £22629 to the winner
2nd round proper - £34000 to the winner
Then we can take into account the chance of drawing a decent EFL club, with a good gate, and possible TV coverage. Let's not blow this opportunity.

We don't want to get to far in this competition do we as there comes a point where the prize money does not cover our costs. I recall when we progressed to play Sunderland away and was told by the then Directors that our costs to participate in the game were greater than the prize money we received. So we ended up losing not only the game but the money as well.
I know I didn't believe it either and frankly still don't.

Mmmm that was a time of very dodgy statements ( and possibly dodgy accounting too). Let's hope times have changed.

Your moaning about poor results and sacking Penn and JOC now your hoping we don’t win Saturday and have a replay when we have injuries? Scooby do is more confusing than you.

Wasn't it Sunderland who said that, after their policing costs were covered, there was no remaining money for us? I always thought that was an incredibly douchebag move on their part.pershoreharrier wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 3:29 pmWe don't want to get to far in this competition do we as there comes a point where the prize money does not cover our costs. I wouldn't believe any statement about finances from that period.HarrierN2 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 9:36 pmWasn't it Sunderland who said that, after their policing costs were covered, there was no remaining money for us? Probably didn’t help that the board & their families had a weekend away in 5 star hotel with it all going on expenses coming out of our pot eitherharry211 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 10:22 pmI wouldn't believe any statement about finances from that period.HarrierN2 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 9:36 pmWasn't it Sunderland who said that, after their policing costs were covered, there was no remaining money for us? Re: 16-10-21 Bedfont (A)
Coincidentally, when I was fruitlessly searching for Garth's summary of the Fans Forum, I stumbled on John Davies' open letter regarding the finances at the time. I did mean to post it just by way of reminding ourselves what a sad state we were in only a few years ago. I can't find it now, but I am sure someone cleverer than me could.P.Underwood wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 11:33 pmProbably didn’t help that the board & their families had a weekend away in 5 star hotel with it all going on expenses coming out of our pot eitherharry211 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 10:22 pmI wouldn't believe any statement about finances from that period.HarrierN2 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 9:36 pmWasn't it Sunderland who said that, after their policing costs were covered, there was no remaining money for us? If you found this post confusing I suggest you go and see a Doctor. You seem to be living with the cartoons.tonythescout wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 6:48 pmYour moaning about poor results and sacking Penn and JOC now your hoping we don’t win Saturday and have a replay when we have injuries? If you reread my post you will in fact identify that I am hoping the team actually progresses through to the next round. Based on the fact that Bedfont is a similar standard football team to Ware and they took us to a replay is that unrealistic of me? I would very much like Harriers to go to Bedfont and win convincingly but based on our recent performances I can see it being tougher than it ought to be.
Sure I believe Penn and JOC should have gone a while back and in my opinion having them is not doing the football club any favours. But if you read what I say I am wanting and expecting Harriers to play at a higher standard league which is worthy of our £18 admission fee.

Hoping it goes to a replay? Why hope? Surely hope we'd win? This is the confusing part!
We all want Harriers to be playing higher, but given the budget, getting into top 7 would be decent.
