Anyone know more about this former Harrier from the 60's? I have a vague recollection of him in the Wassall years.

Just had this message from someone who isn't on here but says it's ok to share:

Colin wrote:I was sorry to hear of the death of Alec Jackson. He was a very talented player who I first saw playing for Albion in the early sixties. I can always remember that he used to come out of the tunnel and warm up smoking a fag.

We signed him from Nuneaton when he was in his mid thirties but his incredible talent more than made up for his lack of pace at that age. I vaguely remember him going clear on goal against Worcester City with the ball at his feet, he bent down and headed it in.

A true character who played well into his forties for several teams ie: Darlaston, Tividale etc. Won't see the like of him again unfortunately.

Remember Alec playing for us down at Hereford where there was a corner and a bit of a melee in the penalty area, as the dust settled Hereford's centre half was lay prostrate on the ground and Alec was seen running away and hiding behind Bobby Watson so the ref couldnt find him.

Stats at KHFC
Played 1970-71 49 Games 13 Goals

RIP Alec :crying:

I don't remember him, but in the article above linked him with Stan Jones - both players playing at Walsall and Harriers.

They were both at Walsall around 1968.

Stan Jones was player/manager at Harriers around 1973.

Yes Stan came and played 1974-75, playing 62 games and scoring 7 goals making his debut against Dunstable Town.

The following season he bacame manager after Ron Farmer left. In his 2 year tenure he managed 31 wins 24 draws and 48 losses
before being replaced by Ron Whitehouse and Alan Grundy
