No point in my summary as Sheff has just done it for me.

Been a while since I ventured to Edgar Street. It hasn’t changed has it. A sad, neglected place. And those bloody pillars.

This is just the kind of squad that does win penalty shoot-outs.

I don't know what game Gowling was watching! We couldn't get a free kick out of that ref, despite Hereford being over physical for the whole game, plus making a number of late decisions once the Hereford players had moaned in his ear.

A disappointing performance largely. AMS played well again, along with Simpson (kicking aside).I have no idea whether he was off his line or not.

I've given my mom to Jaiden White for having the nuts to take and score the crucial fifth penalty, and also for a few lovely tricks to beat his markers down the wing.

Nice to see Bajrami in the crowd who was very friendly and chatty with the fans.

Onward we go, athough I'm a little concerned that we've seen one good half in four.

Sorry Josh, you're just being a sore loser. I can't remember the amount of times we've been on the dodgy end of decisions at Edgar Street. They get very soft penalties, Chester went there a few weeks ago and had a goal ruled out for offside despite three Hereford players apparently playing their man onside. So no, I'm not buying it. Everyone has days when little things go against you, such it up and move on. No sympathy at all.
Apparently?!

I hadn't seen the actual incident, but thanks for that TWG 👍 Wow. Just wow.

Those officials need to keep turning up and not doing their job, eh Josh?!

Though I have a horrible feeling we are going to be on the end of a bad decision at their place cone January. Gowling is already directing his false narrative in public...

Josh Gowling is playing to an audience remember.

His team needs to hear that they were done out of the match with two more coming soon.
Gowling blames the officials every time Hereford don’t win. He sees it all from a very one sided point of view. It’s sad and laughable. Just sour grapes. Experienced managers realise it’s always 6 of one and half a dozen of the other and you have to take the rough with the smooth. And for this level the refs give it a good shot.

The ref was poor but it worked both ways. I'd like to see their goal again and what happened to our keeper. Several around me said he'd been fouled. My eye was following the ball and I couldn't say but it wouldn't surprise me if that ref missed it. In general I thought his erratic decision making favoured them.

Ah Just seen it. Does our keeper get backed into?

On a bitterly cold day the game failed to raise the body temperature of this supporter until the final act of the penalty shoot out. With several changes to the starting 11 there was just a slight concern that our performance might fall a little short of that which would be required. As it was it was judged to perfection against a somewhat dull Hereford side whose only threat appeared to be via set pieces.

Defensively we looked more than strong enough to keep Hereford at bay and Lowe was once again a rock at the back being rarely put under any sustained pressure and for that 90 minutes of composure he gets my MOTM.

Much credit to our penalty takers and keeper for accepting the huge responsibility of stepping up for an event I have never seen us win in over 25 years of supporting the Club. A special word for Jaiden White for the all decisive penalty to win us the game.

Clever run by the Hereford number 5 to win the header unchallenged for their goal. Looks like he was Cameron's man, or at perhaps Cameron was zonally marking the space the 5 runs into. Disappointing that no one at least challenges with him.

Good pens. Freemantle giving the Hereford fans loads at the end :shakeit:

Historic! :red_army:
Have we ever won a competitive shoot-out in a competition that matters?

Without wishing to troll Soupy, I am not accepting the Worcestershire Senior Cup as a “competition that matters” for these purposes.

I can recall FA Cup or FA Trophy shoot out defeats to Sutton, Plymouth, Weymouth, York and Alvechurch, but we must have won one before.

We must have….?!?
Beat Worcester City in the Evening news trophy 1987
I think the Evening News Trophy is even less of a “competition that matters” than the Worcestershire Senior Cup!

I had forgotten Cardiff in the League Cup. I didn’t see much of our time in the Football League as I was living away from the area for most of it, but I do now recall that I was at the Cardiff game - must be my age, or desire to forget our many shoot out defeats!

Delighted that after 25+ years of defeats we have finally won a penalty shoot out.

Hope it’s not another quarter of a century before we win our next one…

Better video of that penalty save where Luke was at least 2 yards off his line:
