I've put all the more interesting old threads in here so they can still be seen following the board overhaul in October 2008. It'll be read only.

Good news, Foulkes has a flexibility to push up wide into midfield should we get a few injuries too.

This to me says that Cameron is off and Penny will be centre half. Walsall won’t allow Foulkes to come here to just fill in here and there.
A good player though I’d rather have kept Cameron and kept Penny at right back as he’s much better there and was a revelation when he came back from injury. Positionally not good enough as a centre half.

Agree with Tony. Not a fan of Penny at CB, he got better but looked like he had a mistake in him and spot on RE his positioning. Assume Walsall are paying Foulkes' wages, as otherwise not sure what the net loss wageswise would be compared to keeping Cameron.
The best team we ever had- since i've been watching the Harriers (2002-)

Can't believe this. He's way too good for this league. Welcome back Joe. Love it.

But agree with above. If Nathan has gone we need another very good centre back. Although to be fair to Alex he might be OK if he has a run at the position rather than being drafted in as an emergency thing.

Very surprising. Like others expected Penny to have right back nailed down for this season. Think we'll see just one more defender now, possibly left footed, to float between backing up Caleb and an additional option at centre half if need be, with an eye on quality over quantity.

I hope Im not reading too much into Foulkes' return, but could this also mean that Cliff Moyo's return to the playing squad may be sooner than everyone thought?
Fingers crossed........

Consider not only Mojo returning early perhaps. But what about the possibility of Kiddy contributing to the rehabilitation of Matt Preston?????

I think that is more likely.

I had a feeling Foulkes would go back on loan. We've signed Joe Riley who can play Full back Liam Bennett on loan from Cambridge also Hayden White meaning he is fourth choice. Hopefully he does enough there to earn another contract at Walsall next season.

I would have expected him to go to a National Prem side like Solihull etc.

There is talk of Preston returning. He’s back training though not sure when he match fit, presume Sept/Oct? If he does return it’s massive for us.

Is Moyo staying? As sympathetic as most of us are towards his back luck on injuries, I don’t see the need keeping a player over 30 who has played around ten games last two seasons due to two big injuries. He’s not a first 11 player IMO.

Great news about Foulkes. We need more than one player competing for each position otherwise we’re always one injury away from not having a good enough starting 11. It’s a long season.

If Matt Preston is back in training, who is he training with, and who is he contracted to?

Solihull Moors
Preston joined Solihull Moors on a two-year deal on 20 July 2021.

According to Wikipedia.

Jaiden White signs for Stafford Rangers where he previously had a loan spell.
