It`s a shame he has gone, but Martin has done well this season & RP recently praised Montrose. Would have been more concerned if we had lost an attacking option.

Have to say I'm not sure Medieval. Our step up in performances coincided exactly with Bond's arrival and I think he bought the extra midfield glue we need to pull everything together and let our front three really shine. I like Martin, I think he'll keep developing and think he's got a big future with us, but I also think for our system to really fire in the short term we might need that extra level in midfield.

As I said this is a massive blow, it will be a lot bigger than what people think. Bonds and Carrington complement each other in terms of what they bring and upturn in form has certainly coincided with their partnership in the engine room.
Yes Martin has done well and seems to be a half decent player but when a player of League 1/2 quality leaves and a lad of NN Quality comes in, there will be a difference.
If we are to continue to challenge then I do hope Penn brings in a replacement for Bonds, or at the very least monitor his situation whilst Cheltenham's injury crisis eases (months time?) and then approach to re sign him. Montrose clearly has fitness issues and and him and Carrington long term isn't the answer. Montrose isn't as creative as Bonds and seems a bit leggy. Only way Montrose and Carrington would work together if we go looking for a point or nick a 1-0 away from home against a very good side.
The mention of Foulkes in that role could be a stroke of genius as he's energetic and has obvious quality with the ball at his feet. As good as Foulkes is, you simply cannot drop Alex Penny at the moment who has been brilliant so perhaps this is one thing Penn will look at?
