Aggborough Ground Catering

So far, I have only had a cup of tea (or rather a teabag in hot water) - which is a downgrade from Murdoch's offering.

Just wondered what the general opinion of the catering was..... and if its known whether the vans are there on a temporary of permanent basis.

Mostly I bring my own tea and biscuits but I would occassionally buy a soup or pie from Murdochs which were (of course) home-made and great value, though not to everyone's taste. The individuality and family atmosphere of the Murdoch enterprise added to Aggborough's identity.

I wouldn't buy anything from the vans unless I'd forgotten my tea. I heard they were charging £4 for a portion of chips which - if true - is a disgrace.

The catering is supplied by Danters. They own the riverside fairground in Stourport.

I'd agree 100% with that. The pies were legendary and the club has lost something.

The soup in particular was very variable, but it was always something to look forward to at half-time on a cold night.

I do wonder if it is a generation thing, though and youngsters just want a burger or a hot dog.

I recently watched three young lads in front of me get stuck into hot dogs nearly as big as them whereas they would not have wanted the Murdock pie or soup. So it is a generation thing I think.

Murdoch did used to do burgers and hot dogs...

Is there any sort of legal wrangling going on?

We have four (?) dedicated food kiosks not being used. One would assume the Murdoch family have taken out all their equipment?

I have enjoyed a few pies and soups over the years but often felt the food was overrated. But it was a little different from most grounds which, I suppose, is a something to be known for. I'd rather we were known for our success on the pitch ...

Only taken hot drinks from the vans so far so cannot comment on the food available.
Aesthetically i don't think having mobile vans in the ground is very pleasing and would like to see the buidings re open asap.

I have been told that Murdochs equipment is still installed and they have informed the club they are not to be employed by any 3rd parties.
As has been alluded to i would imagine some kind of legal wrangling is going on behind the scenes.
Think this is a sad end to a partnership that has served the club and it's supporters well for years and has kept the clubs name in the media at least every 12 months or so.

I noticed in the shuttle that a Joan Murdoch had passed away recently, think Brian's wife was a Joan but not sure if they are the same Joan.

I'm pretty sure that is Brians former wife, as I was told she'd passed away recently.

Totally agree with North Stand Ultra. Not sure what's wrong with these people but they sure know how to alienate folks. KHIST, Murdoch, the fans. Someone should tell them a football club is more than the 11 on the pitch. It seems to be all about them. Never mind the history and traditions of the club. Never mind what people have come to love and respect. Sweep it all away ( or drive a big burger van over it) and do it our way!!!!

Reminds me of Stalin (on a smaller scale). No, I wasn't actually there.

Son and me always used Murdochs. Cheese and potato pie for me, burger for son and we both got either a can or bottle of pop.

Did not like the way we was treated against Cheltenham in order to get hot food whilst we were in East Stand. Steward would not open the gate to North Terrace allowing us to go through and get it. Told us he was just the messenger. Then a large group descended and suddenly another Steward allowed us all in and then escorted 4 guys back to East Stand. It was a complete farce. Made me feel club did not want us to spend money.

Since then never bought anything from the vans. £5 for 1/2 pounder and £4 for 1/4 pounder. £4 for a hot dog and £2.50 for a small bottle of pop. No thanks.

Now go to Tesco after match and get big bottle of flavoured water for 50p and son is enjoying getting the chicken wings from Tastyland.

It's like putting that huge counter in the entrance of the club shop and telling fans they can not look at merchandise. I have watched our supporters walk out in disgust and I followed! Another £150 I spend on Kids stuff annually now gone to be spent in Smyths instead.

This football club needs to cease attitude of it's our way or the highway. People will come and buy other things if they feel welcome and are not jumping through hoops to put money in the tills.

Did not know this. Surely not?!

Just look where they have positioned the counter. Is this a club shop welcoming people into the shop so they can browse? or does it remind you of a chinese take away? I was right behind a guy who had wallet in hand and was told he could not go and have a look at the gear for sale. He told the lady if I can not look at it I am not going to buy it. Then 4 others left the shop (me and son included).
