League news/Former Harriers 1

I've put all the more interesting old threads in here so they can still be seen following the board overhaul in October 2008. It'll be read only.

Reprising memories of over 50 years of watching players come and go at Aggborough, and I'm struggling to think of another player in recent years who looked less likely to move into the Football League than Mr. Johnson.

He must have significantly improved his game since his departure to Hartlepool.
So top marks to him -and his agent.

Well he's had the attributes hasn't he, in fairness.

Strong as an ox, tall and can be dominant in the air if he fancies it, tidy on the ball, can pass and cross. There's a lot there to like. Just his anticipation & concentration was poor, for me. All between the ears. And generally inconsistent. You just have to figure the light bulb's gone on for him.

I agree, confidence and self belief is all important.
There were times he didnt look comfortable, especially in that 'right side of a back three' formation. Not sure wheres h'es played and in what formation at Hartlepool but he must have done things to impress Port Vale.

How anyone couldn't see Marvin Johnson's potential from day one is beyond me. But I'm not biting on this one again - oh, I just did.

One of my all time favourite Harriers players, some of those goals.

Fair play to Ryan Johnson and best of luck to him at Vale
Must have improved ten fold after his spell here where he didnt look great at all.

I think he meant Ryan Johnson when he called him Mr Johnson

Carrying a bit of timber but was fantastic for Altrincham in this league. Huge signing.

Big move for Ryan and a little closer to home. Love The Shanahans. My favourite owners in football.

Well done to him. Almost like some people didn’t know what they were on about when they were scapegoating him...

Potentially an excellent signing for them. Great lad too.

Sigh.

Gloucester sign Jordan Young from Coventry. He spent last season on loan with them and ripped us a new one when they 'came back from the dead' or we 'collapsed pathetically'.

One we should have been in for really.
