Re: New players / trialists / rumours 2
We’ve been in for a midfielder since Byrne got injured I believe. Looks like Brown doesn’t rate either Lissimore or Ox.
Seems a good signing hopefully he makes a decent impact. Always a bit sepitcal with young players on loan nowadays especially when they rarely play against men as the system goes from u23s downwards which I do not get at all, so always poses the question ste they ready for the mens / adult game?

You would think that bringing someone in with six games to go that he's straight into the team, not much use for the bench as we had a decent bench on Saturday. His age, or lack of it, is a concern without watching the lad play. You'd hope that JE is thinking of us kindly.

Lets hope he can take a corner.

He’s been on the bench 3 times this season in the championship and whilst that doesn’t mean he can play against
men its certainly a good start .
A fringes of the championship youngster that Eustace thinks will fit in here too is a good sign.

Eustace obviously thinks 6 games in the red-hot cauldron that is the NL run-in will stand him in good stead for helping Blackburn stop in the Championship next year.

Think we could all see that coming especially with Weston coming in.
Clearly Brown doesnt rate him enough to even be on bench.
Be a good move that for both parties, needs game time.

Now that our season is over and next season's management structure is in place I would not be surprised if we made enquiries about Shaun Jeffers at St. Albans.

He’s scored a bunch for them, but at 32 is he the kind of player to rejuvenate our aging front line?

His scoring record at NLS level is what counts I would have thought. What wages would you expect to have to pay to acquire a striker of his pedigree? You also have to take into account he plays for a part time team and therefore has a full time job and any player moving to KHFC would be moving to a full time club. Our wages therefore have to be competitive with part time wages for the football club + full time wages from the job.

No issue with one of the forwards being over 30. Having two over 30, one of whom has been inconsistent for two seasons would be a worry.
I know going for ex players isnt a way forward but imagine a team with Stirling and Leesley in. Set pieces would be a very strong point for us.
Attracting players from part time can be tough if they have a decent enough day job to get a good wage, plus what ever they get per game playing part time. Would imagine £400-£650 average for NN players for that? May be wrong but if your on £600 a week day job plus £600 a game, would be fork out £1200 a week for the said player?

You're not wrong, but we do already have 2 players in the squad with good scoring records at NLN / NLS level in Gold and Philips (not suggesting we shouldn't be looking to upgrade btw)pershoreharrier wrote: ↑Mon Apr 29, 2024 9:21 amHis scoring record at NLS level is what counts I would have thought. A 30 goal-a-season striker is hard to find and then hard to keep (all season). 10 goals before crimble and all sorts of teams come sniffing around.
Given the awful midfield strike rate last season, I'd be satisfied with a couple of 12 goal-a-year strikers backed up with a clutch of attacking midfielders who can get around or above double figures.
PS.....plus someone who can take a corner.
