Michael Gash - Everywhere We Go (Kiddy Are Massive) EP3

Post by aberred » Tue May 10, 2022 11:21 am

Hi everyone, episode 3 of my Everywhere We Go (Kiddy Are Massive) podcast is out now.

Thanks to those who added questions for me to ask Michael Gash - he was really interesting to talk to.

Some really interesting stuff on:
His partnership with Anthony Malbon
The disappointment of missing out on the title in 12/13
The impact of Steve Burr
The emergence of Joe Lolley
THAT goal against Newport
The sacking of Steve Burr
How the goal-line clearance at home to Peterborough had such an impact on his life
THAT goal at Peterborough
THAT miss at Sunderland
The departure of Mark Serrell, the sacking of Andy Thorn
The sad end to his career at Harriers - being forced to train on his own
His career since
The emotions of the crowd reaction to his return to Aggborough
His love for, and thanks to the Harriers fans.

It's a long one, but I think a good one.

Enjoy:

Just finished listening to this. Fascinating. His time here really did span the highs and lows, to the point that, as I was listening, I wasn’t sure whether to bathe in rose-tinted glory (that FA Cup performance against Newport, Lolley bursting into the team) or just weep (the sacking of Burr, the succession of ever-worsening managers, the disintegration of the team). It was the best of times and the worst of times (I might copyright that if no one has come up with it already)

A fascinating conversation, thank you. Not only do we get his take on an interesting period in the club’s recent history but Michael Gash comes across really well and I think I understand a bit better about life as a non-league footballer. I’m pleased he has had success late in his career with King’s Lynn Town and Peterborough Sports and that he seems ready for life after football.

Entertaining, though to me he's a little uncommital on certain subjects!

PS That Gateshead game played at York was due to a flooded pitch.

Well said. Respect and thanks to all concerned for such quality output.

Always a pleasure.

I'll hopefully get more in the can more regularly but a lot of my recent work is evening times so it's been hard to pin things down.

Hoping Steve Burr will be the next one, chasing Jan Molby too, as well as part of the current set up.

Just bumping this up in case anyone missed it - enjoy!

Hoping to sort Richard Lane soon, and have Russ booked in for mid-June when we'll have some new signings to talk about.

Steve Burr and Jan Molby on the horizon hopefully, while I also have a bid in for Bo, but I'd be very surprised if that came off.
