Murdochs

What's happening with them?

I've heard that something is going on and solicitors are involved. Sounds worrying.

All I heard Tuesday night from the “can chap” in the East Stand is that the son doesn’t want to carry it on and it’s looking likely the company who does the Exec boxes (Ridgway?) are going to take it over...

Was a bit of a tease saying food in the East Stand which was the cobs in the bar when you had a big burger van in view for the North Stand!

Having said that, watching lower step football as much as I do, I’m used to waiting until after games for food, just hope something gets sorted soon.

Right old mess with the food. Spoke to a bloke in the East Stand who was trying to get a burger for his kids, but the steward wouldn't let him through. Made no sense to me at all. They paid for a ticket, and even if they stayed in that area a ticket for the East Stand is more expensive!

All resolved in the end, though. Some other bloke kicked up a massive fuss & went and got another steward, followed by a whole bunch being let through. Guess he got overruled.

I heard that Murdochs are angry about the contract being ripped up and have pleaded their case with someone employed by EBC (legal) but have been treated shoddily. Hence the solicitors.

Can KHIST look into this? If its a case of David (presume that's the son we're on about) walking away then fine. But if Lane and co have ripped up Murdoch's contract then it's nothing short of a {expletive deleted} travesty - and would be a worrying sign of how little the current ownership know or care about the club and its supporters.

Could it be that the contract was with Brian Murdoch and became null and void when he passed away.

I was told ( albeit several years ago so the situation may have changed in the intervening years) that Brian Murdoch had a long standing arrangement with the club where he paid a agreed flat rate per match to "vend" at the club.
Murdoch then employed the staff, bought in the stock/food, cooked it etc.
Everything taken over the counter after that was his profit.
Could be now that the club have taken the opportunity to review the arrangement after Brian's passing? I was under the impession David was quite happy to carry on....

They have a great record for supporter engagement so I can’t imagine they are wide of the mark here
Colin Gordon supporters seem very keen on his mates who’ve bought the club from him, don’t they? :kissarse:

Totally agree with you TWG85 and it was probably me you spoke to. I had my brother and 2 kids with me. Both kids had spotted the Burger bar in the 1st half as we watched from East Stand and asked if they could have cheeseburgers at half time. No hot food was being served in East Stand. We walked to the gate and were refused entry at the gate by the Steward. When we asked why we could not buy any hot food his response was, "I am just the messenger".

We were not alone as a number of other supporters then went and got another steward who then allowed them and a queue of others through the gate. I spent £15 on 2 x Cheeseburgers, 1 x Chips and Curry Sauce and 3 x Cans of Pop. Why the cans cost 50p more than under the East Stand I do not know (I spent £11 in the bar pre match on pop, haribo, crisps and 2 Thatchers). Then some supporters were escorted back to East Stand and some were left in queue in order to buy food. Pathetic.

The whole experience was ridiculous. My daughter was in tears when told she could not have a burger. The club says it is family friendly but is putting barriers (Kidderminster Barriers lol) in order for customers to purchase hot food. Then you have the lady in the club shop telling people they can not have a look at hoodies so people leave disgruntled before the match. What the **** is going on?

Whoever, is making these decisions should be fired. Commercial Manager? Club needs money in cash register and if staff are not focused on making the club profitable do the right thing and look for a new job.

Whilst agreeing with the overall sentiment, I’m gonna take a guess that the burger van, as an “outside vendor”, will have full creative control on its prices. Think of it like paying more for your pint in the king and castle than you would at Spoons.

Hopefully the wider points are solved soon enough

The big difference is you a choice to walk into those pubs. With guy on the gate you can not purchase from cheapest provider. I thought the dictator had gone?

If I ever return I shall bring a rucksack full of food and drinks or use McDonalds like I did after Cheltenham.
