Jimmy Shan was right
He did say that Ryan Johnson would play in the football league one day.
And we laughed at him

Good for him. Can never help a player if some fans are constantly on his back.

Huge congratulations to Johnson, well deserved after all the unfair stick he got here. Shows what a positive atmosphere can do

Agree totally with the above. Don't think our lot will learn but nevermind!
The best team we ever had- since i've been watching the Harriers (2002-)

Goes to show what a bit of belief, and dare I say it, some decent coaching can do. Was probably the biggest victim of the Gordon era, and the toxicity in and around it.
You’d like to think it will serve as a bit of proof that as fans, we can help, but as above has stated, I can’t see certain sections of the fanbase changing. Criticism is the easiest thing to offer, after all...

Re: Jimmy Shan was right
He was very poor at times. Yes, you can argue he was perhaps asked to do things he couldn't do but that doesn't detract from the errors he made. These things happen in the careers of footballers. At some clubs it works, at others it doesn't. They develop, they improve and yes, maybe a different sort of coach will get more out of a player and some players are much better in a winning side than a side that is struggling.
I don't think KHFC fans are particularly worse than any other supporters in terms of moans and groans when players make glaring errors.

Before we all retract our previous opinions on Magic Johnson lets see what the Hartlepool retained list for next season looks like..........

Would like to know if Johnstone was one of the 5 or 6 Shan mentioned who he reckoned could play in the league? If so i wonder who the other 4 or 5 were?

Had the result gone the other way we could be lauding the merits of Danny Wright?

He's been linked with a move to port Vale if Hartlepool hadn't been promoted. I'd imagine either way he'll be a FL player next seasongarthrockett wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 11:06 pmBefore we all retract our previous opinions on Magic Johnson lets see what the Hartlepool retained list for next season looks like..........

Everyone knew Danny Wright was good. We just had a manager who decided to play him on the winggarthrockett wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 11:34 pmHad the result gone the other way we could be lauding the merits of Danny Wright?

Re: Jimmy Shan was right
Yes it would be nice to think the post-Covid Harriers crowd would be full of gratitude, sweetness and light and get behind all of their players all of the time but I fear no lessons will have been learned.
The East Stand where I sit always has its share of people who are waiting like knives on coiled springs to tear into the supposed failings of our own players. I have seen the confidence of good players undermined for over a quarter of a century. I remember the vendetta against Storer who went on to a decent league career. One misplaced pass and there were howls of derision. He, like many others, must have wondered if he wouldn't be better off somewhere else - and he was.
