Everyone needs to be on the same page. If we finish the season along with the PL and EFL then that's fine but it will delay the new season. Leagues below the National League are set to scrap this season (yet to be confirmed by FA council) but surely would have to then start the new one at the same time as those above. Who knows when the next ball will be kicked anyway.

I don’t think the government will be able to afford to continue with the furlough scheme beyond 31 May.
Also there is general recognition that around 80% of us will get the virus at some point. The lockdown measures are all about ‘flattening the curve’ rather than limiting the long term total number of infections (unlike China).
I think therefore there is every chance that the new season will start as planned in August but I don’t think there will be much footie before that.
