Sam Shilton signed for the Harriers in July 2001 from Hartlepool Utd. He was the son of the legendary England keeper, Peter Shilton.

His first club was Plymouth Argyle whom he signed schoolboy forms for while his father was manager there. He played only one full game for Plymouth before he was transferred to the Premier giants Coventry City for £125,000. He only made 6 starts in 4 years there and he then moved on to Hartlepool on a free transfer.

Sam made 54 appearances for Hartlepool scoring on his debut then adding a further 7 goals later.

During his time at Aggborough Sam found himself in and out of favour. Even though Jan Molby originally bought him here he very rarely played him and it wasn’t until Ian Britton took over that Sam got to play regularly.

When Jan returned to the club Sam was again dropped and was eventually allowed to leave at the end of January 2004.
