John Durnin started his career with factory side Waterloo Dock in Liverpool before joining Liverpool themselves.

He originally came to Aggborough on a one month deal in October 2000 following a short trial at Tranmere Rovers where he had gone after leaving Carlisle Utd.

After a successful goalscoring start at Aggborough John was rewarded with an extended contract until the end of the season.

At the end of the the 2000/01 season John was released by the Harriers and joined Welsh League team, Rhyl. He then left there to join up with an old friend Brian Horton, at Port Vale in December 2001.
