Jamille Matt signed for the Harriers on a provisional non contract basis in the hope of earning himself a full contract. The Walsall born striker had been at Sutton Coldfield FC for all five years of his career and in that time scored 36 times. In his last game for Sutton he scored a hat trick in a 7-2 win against Goole Town.

At the end of his first season for us he signed for a further one year term after making twenty two appearances and scoring three times including an injury time winner at Cambridge Utd.

It came as a shock when he was deemed to be an illegal immigrant by the Border Agency in March 2012 even though he had lived in this country since he was seven years old. For the remainder of that season and the start of the 2012-13 season we were without his services until he was finally allowed to play once more in November.

His comeback signalled a scoring spree once more that netted him eight goals in eight games and also drew the attention of other clubs. In January 2013 he finally left the club to join Fleetwood Town in League Two for an un-disclosed fee but believed to be more than £300,000.

He struggled to get game time at Fleetwood and was sent out on loan to Stevenage and Plymouth Argyle before finally being allowed to sign for Blackpool.

Jamma went on to play for Newport County and helped them reach the play-off final against Tranmere Rovers in May 2019.
