James Constable originally came to the Harriers for a two month long loan from local League two side Walsall but eventually signed for us permanently.

Originally with Southern League side Chippenham Town he signed for the Saddlers in November 2005 after scoring twenty two goals in thirty one games for his hometown club. After a bright start at the Bescot he struggled to re-find that form and spent most of the time on the bench.

During the initial loan he banged in nine goals in twelve games and we signed him permanently on a 2½ year deal on January 31st 2007.

In the FA Trophy Final against Stevenage Borough at the brand new Wembley James scored both the goals in our 3-2 defeat. That made him the leading scorer in the competition with ten goals.

With hopes high the following season of even more goals it backfired slightly when he was sent off against Oxford Utd and also missed a few games through injury.

In a shocking move by the Harriers board he was sold to Shrewsbury Town in January 2008 for an undisclosed fee but thought to be well below his true value.

He never settled at the Shrews and was sold on to Oxford a year later and became something of a legend there scoring 104 goals in 270 games before falling out with the management and then joining Eastleigh.
