Anthony Malbon signed for an initial fee of £7000 from Newcastle Town in January 2012. After starting his career at Port Vale he was released in November 2010 and promptly joined Leek Town after previously being on loan to them.

He then went through a bit of tooing and froing between Leek and Newcastle before finally settling at the latter in the summer of 2011 where he found his shooting boots and scored thirty goals for them.

It was this scoring prowess that drew the Harriers manager Steve Burr to the player. He became an instant hit with the fans when he scored on his debut at Alfreton Town and then went on to grab a further seven goals in his first season with us.

The following term he did even better with twenty goals in just over forty games but then, following a major injury when he was airlifted to hospital, he hit a blip with his fitness levels and only made twenty eight starts to score just seven goals. Sadly, with signs of his fitness returning, he left us in June 2014 for pastures new.

He joined Stalybridge Celtic for a while but, again, rarely featured for them until he left to join his local side Kidsgrove Athletic where he was happy just having a kick round with his mates.

A sad loss to professional football.
