31-12-17 – Preview – Harriers Vs AFC Telford Utd

A few days ago, at Telfords Bucks head ground, we struggled to cope with the shocking pitch conditions but luckily we came back from there undefeated still and the chance to go one better at Aggborough tomorrow.

The home side coped better with the muddy turf and could have sent us into the break at least three goals down but we held out through plucky last gap defending and had chances of our own to score but they were few and far between. Our cause wasn’t helped with the loss of Joe Ironside to injury at halftime and it’s now doubtful if he’ll play tomorrow.

Also out is Dan Bradley with a long term injury while Declan Weeks and Tyrone Williams will both be assessed before the game. One piece of good news since Boxing Day is that Fraser Horsfall has secured his release from Huddersfield Town and is now ours permanently until the end of next season. 

Telford have lost a goalkeeper since the last game after Sheridan Martinez re-joined Solihull Moors following his non appearance for Telford in any games since signing for them in the summer. Their only injury worry is to Jack Rea with an ankle injury.

Telford showed us on Boxing Day that they can play football, even on a poor surface, so we need to be ready for that and be more sound defensively. Up front we’re going to have problems if Ironside isn’t available or Andre Brown isn’t firing on all cylinders again as he wasn’t at the Bucks Head. Our lack of strikers is a worry now seeing as we have four keepers and the same number of strikers but only three if Ironside is out for a while. Hopefully there will be a change of policy with the situation in the coming month.

I’m taking us to win this game (even with the depleted frontline) although Telford aren’t going to make it easy for us.
