22-01-18 - Preview - Harriers Vs FC Utd of Manchester

The Harriers had an un-expected day off on Saturday when the game at Curzon Ashton was called off due to a waterlogged pitch. Sadly that meant that the travelling fans wouldn’t see our new goal scoring acquisition, George Waring, make his debut for the Reds and instead they’re going to have to wait until tomorrow night, along with the rest of us, when we entertain FC Utd of Manchester at Aggborough.

Waring signed on loan for us from Tranmere Rovers on Friday evening and will be staying with us for the remainder of the season. Hopefully he’ll be working with either Joe Ironside or Andre Brown and won’t be expected to plough a lone furrow by himself as those two have been asked to do far too often this season.

We’ll be without Fraser Horsfall for this game due to his suspension for a red card picked up at home to Stockport last Saturday. The suspension was supposed to have been served at Curzon but will now be against a tougher opponent in FC Utd and we could find the game a tougher ask now.

With the exit of Tyrone Williams from the club last week and three defenders out on loan we’re now a bit short on defensive numbers. Add in the injury and sickness list that includes another defender, Joel Taylor, then it becomes a little worrying.

At the weekend FC Utd picked up a creditable draw away at Blyth Spartans with a goal from Tom Greaves. The draw kept them around mid table in thirteenth place, seven points behind the Harriers and also seven games unbeaten. They have no known injuries.

We beat them at their place back in August to give us our first win of the season. Both of our goals came from Manny Sonupè and it would be good to see him repeat that tomorrow night. It would be even better to see our new signing chip in with a couple of goals too.
