20-10-17 - Preview - Harriers Vs Spennymoor Town

Spennymoor Town are the visitors to Aggborough tomorrow for the first ever meeting between the two sides. With Moors sitting comfortably in fourth place and us on the back of a great FA Cup win against Chester FC last Saturday we should be hoping for another good game and the possibility of three points in the bag for us.

Even though they are up in the promotion places it doesn’t mean that Spennymoor cannot be beaten and that was shown last week when they crashed to a 4-2 home defeat to Curzon Ashton in the league and a few weeks previous to that they made their exit from the FA Cup with another home defeat to Gainsborough Trinity.

In the defeat against Curzon last Saturday they had Chris Mason sent off. It’s likely that he’ll miss our game through suspension but then again at this level who knows? They could also be without Ryan Hall who has been out for a handful of games now with a knee injury.

We have a few injuries of our own and could still be without James Pearson (hamstring) while Liam Truslove (knee) and Lee Vaughan (broken leg) remain sidelined long term with the return date for Vaughan now moved forward to around Christmas. On the goalkeeping front Tom Palmers loan at Worcester City has now come to an end so he might be considered for the bench tomorrow while defender Kennedy Digie has gone on loan to Stourbridge FC.

Last Saturday we witnessed what was possibly the best game seen this season in the annihilation of Chester. The all round team effort was a joy to watch with our higher level opponents rarely getting a sniff of the ball. Elton N’Gwatala was back to his very best and even earned applause from the visiting fans when he was given the man of the match award. Add in the customary goal from Manny Sonupè to top another excellent game from him and we had a team that should beat any other on its day.

We just have to hope that day arrives again tomorrow and that we don’t slip back into the old ways once again. Now that we have the bit between the teeth we have to make sure that it doesn’t slip out.
