16-02-18 - Preview - Harriers Vs Harrogate Town

This is going to be one of the big games of the season when Harrogate Town turn up at Aggborough in the hope of increasing the gap between ourselves. At the moment they sit in second place, ten points more than us, and have been closing the gap on Salford City in recent weeks but the Harriers have also been closing the gap on both clubs and a win for the Reds will narrow that gap down to seven points.

Third placed Brackley Town are also in front of us with a six point difference between us and with them playing Darlington at home there is a likelihood of a shock there and we can close that gap too.

Hopefully we should be at full strength at last with Dan Bradley having returned from injury a few weeks back leaving just Liam Truslove the only one left in the treatment room. Now, with the calling off of the Spennymoor game last Saturday, we have had longer to treat Liam and hopefully we’ll see him on the bench tomorrow.

One player that will definitely be missing is Andre Wright who left the club for Nuneaton Town last Friday. Although he was on a contract until the end of the season it was a mutual agreement to release him and to be honest he didn’t seem to have improved much on his first spell with us.

To strengthen their side Harrogate have secured the signature of John McCombe from struggling Chester FC on a permanent deal until the end of the season. They could be without Ryan Fallowfield through injury but will be hoping to have Terry Kennedy back from his injury.

Sadly for us Barnet failed in their bid to lure leading scorer Simon Ainge away from the club so he’ll be out there goal hanging hoping to force the ball over the line by brute force.

An extra treat for us all will be having Amy Fearn back at Aggborough as the referee. She last officiated for us in November 2013 against Wrexham in the infamous ‘hole in the net’ game. Luckily we managed to win that game and didn’t get any of our players sent off, or any penalties turned down, although Andy Bishop was sent off for Wrexham.

Hopefully we’ll see a decent game tomorrow without any untoward interference from Amy, a good solid defensive display from us against a tall side and three points in the bag. Oh, and a defeat for Brackley too.
