08-12-17 - Preview - Chorley FC Vs Harriers

The Harriers will be facing their Nemesis tomorrow, that’s if the snow holds off, when they go back up that M6 to play Chorley FC. We played them on the opening day of the season and fell to our first defeat of the season too when a Tyrone Williams own goal gave the visitors all of the points even though we had been the better team throughout with some excellent passing and attacking play.

That game was a premonition of what was to come as we continued to struggle with consistency in the early part of the season. At times brilliant: FC Utd and Leamington and at others downright dire: Salford City and Brackley. At least we have that consistency now and our unbeaten run, apart from AFC Fylde in the FA Cup, is testament to that.

On Tuesday evening we came from behind twice to force a draw at Harrogate with our second goal coming in the fourth minute of extra time, four minutes after what they thought was their winning goal. Joe Ironsides brace now gives him fourteen goals for the season so far and six in five games.

James Pearson missed the Harrogate game with another slight hamstring injury. He’ll be checked out before the game but it may be wiser to give him the day off Christmas shopping instead.

There’s no injury update from Chorley so we can assume they’ll be at full strength for the game. The one we have to watch for though is striker Nick Haughton, on loan, from Fleetwood Town since September. So far he’s scored eleven times including a hat trick at Boston Utd in an FA Cup replay game.

As with all previous meetings with Chorley this is going to be another tough game but as we showed in the play-offs last season up there they can be beaten. Pity about the result in the return game.

All we need now is a snow free Lancashire.
