Match preview Vs SouthportDate: 09-09-17Venue: Haig AvenueKick off: 15:00hrs |
It’ll be a short preview from me today (thank God for that I hear you say). I’m down here on the Isle of Wight for a funeral and wi-fi is pretty bad. So bear with me, there might be a few spellung ewrrors.
Following another poor result at home to Curzon on Tuesday evening we have seen yet another player leave the squad but, at the time of writing, no one new coming in. Daniel Nti left the club for Nuneaton Town yesterday and that was probably expected seeing as it was never going to work out for him here with the weight of Worcester City hanging around his neck.
We will be without Lee Vaughan (he broke his leg against Southport last season) and Liam Truslove yet again and this un-explained injury to Truslove is now getting worrying. What exactly is so wrong that he has missed most of the season so far? We could be without James McQuilkin too after he collected an injury on Tuesday during the first half.
Southport come into this game on the back of a right old drubbing at Stockport on Tuesday where they got hammered 6-0 in one of the shocks of the season. They had started off their season back at this level so well too but it just shows how things are down here when you can go on good runs one minute then get thrashed the next.
We have to hope there won’t be a backlash and it’s us on the end of a similar scoreline tomorrow. They had Adam Dugdale sent off at Stockport but he’ll play due to the seven day ruling and they also have a few injuries to worry about with Jack Sampson, John-Paul Kissock, Liam Martin and Iain Turner.
Our Declan Weeks was with them last season and they think highly of him but we, as a club, don’t so much. He has been overlooked so far and should have come on in place of McQuilkin the other night but wasn’t. Instead John Eustace sent on a striker and another bit of our midfield went missing. Even more so when he took off Dan Bradley later on and it went totally missing then.
I fear we won’t be getting much joy from Southport and, sadly, our poor form will continue and with it the calls for a change in management.
