The Harriers drew a strange one out of the hat in todays FA Cup draw for the 2nd qualifying round. Deeping Rangers will be our opponents on September 16th and it’s safe to say we have never played them before. It’s also safe to say that 90% of Harriers fans are heading to Google Maps right now trying to work out just where Deeping is.
To save you bothering it’s a few miles North of Peterborough and east of Stamford in the small town of Market Deeping (pop 6008). It’s a typical stone built country town. It also sounds like the kind of fictional place on TV where nine residents get murdered every day.
The football club were formed in 1964 and play in the United Counties League where they sit in tenth place at the moment. On Saturday they beat Brocton FC 4-2 to get the chance to meet us and they have reached this round on only two occasions before in 2011 and 2015 so we mustn’t take them lightly if we don’t want to be the team that see’s them going one better this year.
Deeping play at the Haydon Whitham Stadium on Outgang Rd and play in claret and blue so that’ll keep the Villa fans happy.
