01-12-17 - Preview - Harriers Vs Gainsborough Trinity

The Harriers welcome Gainsborough Trinity to Aggborough this weekend and even with Trinity on a good run of form in recent weeks we’ll be looking to get maximum points from the game.

James Pearson

Sitting in third place in the current form table, we’re at 6th place, they have only lost once in their last eight league games but still find themselves hovering near the foot of the table in seventeenth place.

Their league form might be good but in the FA Cup the story was not so good when they followed up an excellent 2-1 win away at Harrogate Town with a shocking exit at home to lower placed Slough Town that saw the London club bang six goals past them with no reply.

It’s the league that we’re more interested in here though and we now have to put our FA Trophy win at home to Boston on Tuesday evening to the back of the mind and get those points on board and maybe even crack the play off places. Three points will see us rise into  sixth place but that depends on both York City and Bradford Park Avenue failing to win their games at Boston Utd and Alfreton Town respectively.

Hopefully we’ll have James Pearson and Joel Taylor back for the game with both taken ill in the past week. Pearson was actually on the pitch pre-match on Tuesday and had to make a bolt for the loo and didn’t return. Yan Klukowski was also missing so it could be assumed he also had the same ‘problem’.

We have no other injuries apart from Lee Vaughan and Dan Bradley, both long term, so unless someone else contracts the bug then we should be close to have a full complement of players and might even fill the bench without having to bring in kids from the academy.

I’ve no idea about the injury situation with Trinity because they keep their cards close in that respect.

This game is going to be tougher than it looks on paper but with our improved form of late, and only one defeat in thirteen games (AFC Fylde away) then we should be the stronger team and come through victorious.
