01-09-17 - Andre Wright returns to the Harriers

In an un-expected move this evening the Harriers management bought two new strikers into the club when we were all expecting a new defender instead. With our defensive stock at a low most fans thought that sometime today we would bring in someone to partner the new defender from yesterday, Fraser Horsfall, because that’s where we’re most lacking since the departure of Liam Daly and Cieron Keane earlier this week and going back further to the departure of Keith Lowe and Jordan Tunnicliffe at the end of last season.

Instead we get two new strikers. Well one new but one old.

Andre Wright is the latter of those and he’ll be remembered from his first loan spell from here West Bromwich Albion back in the summer of 2015.

Since that time he has been out on loan to Torquay Utd and Coventry City without really pulling up any trees at either club. He was supposed to go out on a further loan to Yeovil Town when he returned to the Hawthorns from Coventry but he fell foul of the ruling that no more than two loans per season per player was allowed.

He was released by West Brom at the end of last season and it’s surprising that no one else has snapped him up in the interim. We have now though and today he signed a one year contract with us.

The other player to come in is Will Longbottom from Doncaster Rovers. Little is known about him apart from being 18 years old and highly rated by them. He is classed as an attacking midfielder by them and has made nine appearances scoring once against Derby County in the Checkatrade trophy.

He has arrived on a one month long youth loan.
