National North play off eliminator |
Match preview Vs Bradford Park AvenueDate: 02-05-18Venue: AggboroughKick off: 19:45hrs |
Just four days after suffering an embarrassing final day home defeat to Bradford Park Avenue we meet once more and there’s a more important game at stake tomorrow night. BPA’s 2-1 late win on Saturday saw themselves into the play offs at the expense of Spennymoor Town and they’ll now be confident of making further progress at the Harriers expense.
It’s now up to us to make sure that they make a quick exit and to that end we should be playing a stronger team than we did the other day. That should mean the return of a more solid defence that will include two missing from Saturday: James O’Connor and Fraser Horsfall along with a start for James Pearson who came on at halftime.
Ryan Croasdale and James McQuilkin should return in the middle of the park while upfront there will be a return for leading scorer Joe Ironside.
Dan Bradley started the game the other day but was taken off at the break for Pearson in a move obviously created to give both players some game time following injury. Bradley scored our only goal early on but sadly we never really looked like adding to that with some mediocre showings from the remainder of the strikeforce during the second half.
Bradford looked to be nothing special but they did work hard for each other and you can’t deny that by the end of the game that they deserved to win. It’s up to us to make sure that they don’t repeat that work ethic and go at them from the start and not stop until the ninety fifth minute. Those last minutes of a game have been our Achilles heel all season and it’s high time it was nipped in the bud.
The reward for the winners will be a trip to Brackley Town this coming Sunday and if it’s not us then that would be too much to bear.
